There are two levels of projects: sponsored and supported.
For more information on the submitting a project for consideration please refer to the sponsored projects page. For any questions not answered in this section please contact us.
Sponsored projects are those that the Friends of Kyrgyzstan board has agreed to donate to and do fundraising for. To be eligible, a project must be submitted by a current or returned Peace Corps Volunteer. It is the responsibility of the PCV or RPCV to ensure that funds are not misused.
Friends of Kyrgyzstan promote and facilitate projects members undertake in accordance with the objectives of the group. Such as:
All projects submitted will
be reviewed and approved by the Friends of Kyrgyzstan board. In your request
for funding please include as much information as possible about the project,
its cost, and the expected benefit. The Friends of Kyrgyzstan will give preference
to projects that have the greatest impact on Kyrgyz communities.
Supported projects are those that the board has not agreed to sponsor but feel are worthwhile projects that should be listed on the website and supported by donations from Friends of Kyrgyzstan members or the general public.
Due to the large number of needy students in Kyrgyzstan we will not be able to accommodate all requests for scholarship funds but encourage submissions of worthy students to be listed on the projects supported page to encourage donations by members and the general public.
Please note that these projects
are not officially sanctioned or sponsored by Friends of Kyrgyzstan and therefore
Friends of Kyrgyzstan is not responsible for ensuring that donations to the
projects are used appropriately.
