Where Are They Now?

We know it's hard to keep up with each other's lives. Here is a sampling of how some members are doing:

Eitan Trabin, K-7, Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul

Eitan has been stealthily moving across the globe since his Peace Corps days, and was spotted on a hilltop in Albania in June, 2004. The rumor is that he is studying at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Netherlands, but this might be another one of his deft feints.

After leaving Kyrgyzstan in 2001, Eitan participated in the Tahoe-Baikal Institute's environmental exchange program, and also returned for a year in Bishkek working with the Foundation for Tolerance International, a Kyrgyzstan non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1998 with a mission "to prevent and to resolve inter-ethnic and international conflicts in the Ferghana Valley."

Danny and Michelle Dolan, K-8, Jalal-Abad, Jalal-Abad

After returning home to Hawaii in August of 2001 the Dolans began working. Danny was hired on as a Manager of O'Toole's Irish Pub in Honolulu's business district. Michelle was hired on with the Feds at the US Fish and WIldlife Service. In December of 2002 they had a baby boy, Jake. When Baby Jake was just three weeks old their house burned down...after a quick recovery they were able to buy another one just outside of Waikiki. Yes, you can come and visit! Look for more updates soon....

Nancy Gregory, K-5, Jerkazar & Bishkek, Chui

I live and work in the city of Orange in Orange County, CA. I work as an Assistant in the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship & Business Ethics at Chapman University. I also belong to the Orange County Peace Corps Association (OCPCA) and am the membership chair. I volunteer for several organizations, two of which are Global Ethics and Religion Forum and ASSE Student Exchange, which places foreign high school students in American homes.

Tiffany Tuttle, K-6, Balykchy, Issyk-Kul

After leaving Kyrgyzstan in 2000, I made my home in Arcata, CA for three years, recovering from Balykchy's high desert winds by hanging out in the redwoods and on the beach. I putzed around for 3 years, and then decided to go back to grad school. I moved to Pullman, WA in the fall of 2003 and began an MA program in Cultural Anthropology. My research brought me back to Kyrgyzstan the summer of 2004, as I collected data on tourism and shyrdaks in Kochkor, Naryn with the NGO Altyn Kol. I finished my thesis in the spring of 2005, went to field school in NM that summer, and caught the archaeology bug.  Now I'm doing cultural resource management (CRM) in Redding, CA, playing in the dirt and loving it!

Nikkole Orton, K-7, Kara-Suu, Naryn

Since coming back to the US, it's been a lot of floating for Avtandil and I. We're kinda sorta half-way settled in now, but thinking of picking up again by Fall 05 to start grad school (both of us at once!) We also have a beautiful baby girl born Oct 2003.
